END THE RAT RACE
Every Monday morning at about 6 AM it happens BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP. That dreaded alarm
clock. People all across the country from city to city, hitting the snooze button for the
last time, finally dragging themselves out of bed. They rush to beat the clock; they
cruise through a drive-through to grab a cup of coffee. Then they sit in bumper to bumper

Hoping to just get through the day. At last it's 5 o'clock, they rush home, stopping at a

reducer until they go to bed. Only to do it again Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and then
finally it's Friday. Freedom at last!!! We all know what happens on Friday. The boss
gives them some CHEESE to nibble on. In other words, their paychecks. They rush to the
bank to deposit their paycheck to cover all of the bounced checks they wrote the last
couple of days. But for one moment they honestly believe it's their money. Then they
celebrate by going to the local pizza parlor and getting a large with all the toppings.
Then it's off to the video store to stock up on enough videos to sit mindlessly in front
of the television until its Monday morning and it happens again BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP.
They do it all over again. Lives of quiet desperation. Like rats on a wheel waiting for
the next piece of cheese. It doesn't have to be that way.
